New services
At the end of Week 22 the frame for the new accessible toilet in the north west corner is taking shape, which also forms the west of the new servery with sink units etc. Hardeep and Craig from Ellis & Co. are shown working on it. The toilet will be well soundproofed I’m told!
Meanwhile outside the new 90KvA electrical cable has been put in place by the National Grid. Our on site contractors had a real job finding where the old supply came in. We had always known there were two incoming power connections in the church, one at the base of the tower and the other, unused, on the south east side. However, the National Grid maps told us these led back to a main connection in the centre of the forecourt. First of all we discovered that the connection into the tower actually runs up beside the steps into Church Walk. Then, having dug down a metre into the forecourt there was no sign of another connection. Experimental trenches to the east of the memorial (see last post) finally uncovered not one but three old power cables running towards the church - we stil don’t kno where two of them go but we do now have a brand new supply route to run more power into the church and in due course export from our solar PV. In the last photo below you can see the bore hole under the west end through which the new cable will enter the building (and the old cable running up the outside corner).
